||||
Eat Your Heart Out Charlie's an out-of-work actor currently working as a waiter. The scene is a series of hilarious encounters in Manhattan restaurants both elegant and shabby. By changing the tablecloths in the course of the action, the basic setting of three tables and six chairs becomes another place. The action is uninterrupted, and the comedy never stops. The other performers play several parts: the Girl desperately trying to eat snails and oysters to please her fiancé, the middle- aged lovers so intent on each other they cannot order dinner; the rich, embittered astrologer; the timid man who never gets a waiter; the agents, directors, actors, and waiters. It’s an amusing gallery of characters whose stories intertwine and finally involve Charlie. All five actors will have to pull all the stops in this wonderful acting challenge. Audition
Dates: Wednesday, May 26 – 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Location: 40 Eyre Street Rehearsal Dates: To be determined by the cast; small size of cast allows for flexibility Audition Requirement: Cold read from Act One of the play Characters: Charlie – a
waiter in his late twenties or early thirties The

Miss Saigon A classic
love story is brought up-to-date in one of the most stunning theatrical
spectacles
of all time. In Miss Saigon, Alain Boublil and Claude-Michael
Schönberg (the creators of Les Misérables), along with Richard
Maltby, Jr., bring Puccini's “Madame Butterfly” to the modern
world in a moving testament to the human spirit and a scathing indictment
of the tragedies of war. In the turmoil of the Vietnam War, an American
soldier and a Vietnamese girl fall in love, only to be separated during
the fall of Saigon. Their struggles to find each other over the ensuing
years ends in tragedy for her and a fighting chance for the child he never
knew he had. An international sensation, Miss Saigon is an epic, daring
pop opera that is universal in its emotional power even as it deals with
controversial, contemporary issues. Its sung-through pop-inflected score
gives a multi-ethnic cast of strong pop singers an opportunity to shine,
in show stopping numbers like “I Still Believe,” “Why
God Why?” and “The American Dream.” Meanwhile, its fluid
cinematic structure gives directors and designers a field day. Raw and
uncompromising, Miss Saigon is an intensely personal story of the losses
we suffer and the sacrifices we make in a world gone mad. Audition Dates: Monday, December 20th (6:00-9:00) Location: 40 Eyre Street Audition Requirement: One up-tempo song and one ballad (must show your vocal range) Characters: |
