Goodbye grey skies, hello blue! Happy Days auditions are set!

Auditions for Theatre Cambrian's highly anticipated musical Happy Days are now set. “We are excited to be holding auditions for the fun, family friendly musical that is full of rock and roll,” states Mannisto. “All the baby boomers out there remember Happy Days, the television program. We hope to introduce today’s generation to the charm and simplistic joy of that was present in Happy Days.”

Goodbye gray skies, hello blue! Happy days are here again with Richie, Potsie, Ralph Malph and the unforgettable “king of cool” Arthur “The Fonz” Fonzarelli. Based on the hit Paramount Pictures television series, Happy Days, A New Musical reintroduces one of America’s best loved families, the Cunninghams -- yes, Howard, Marion and Joanie are here too -- to a whole new generation of kids and parents. The famed drive-in malt shop and number one hangout, Arnold’s, is in danger of demolition. So the gang teams up to save it with a dance contest and a TV-worthy wrestling match. Even Pinky Tuscadero, Fonzie’s childhood sweetheart, returns to help and -- lo and behold! -- they rekindle their old flame. Happy Days, A New Musical, with amazing music from Oscar-winner Paul Williams and a book by the TV series original creator, Garry Marshall, will return audience to the days of 1959 Milwaukee complete with varsity sweaters, hula hoops and jukebox sock-hoppin’ fun. This perfectly family friendly musical will have you rockin’ and rollin’ all week long! If you like Grease you will love Happy Days.

Character list:

Arthur “The Fonz” Fonzarelli—The king of cool, sexy, funny and loaded with charisma, older than the other kids. In his late teens or early 20’s. He wears jeans, white t-shirt, and black leather jacket and motorcycle bots at all times except when he works in the garage where he wears mechanics coveralls.

Richie Cunningham—High school student, Fonzi’e best friend, all American, honest, reliable.

Pinky Tuscadero—Fonzi’s love interest, sexy, confident, tough and a body to die for. Motorcycle daredevil. Same age as Fonzie.

Howard Cunningham—Riche’s dad, the quintessential mid-western head of household. A man in his 40s.

Marion Cunningham—Richie’s mom, warm, naïve and wise. In her 40s.

Joanie Cunningham—Richie’s younger sister, 15-16 years old, lovable, precious and has a big crush on Chachie.

Charles “Chachie” Arola—Fonzie’s cousin who tries to be just like him. Probably 15 or 16. Like Joanie.

Ralph Malph—High school buddy of Richie’s. He is the class clown.

Warren “Potsie” Webber—High school buddy of Richie’s, not very cool but tries hard to be. He is a bit of a nerd.

The Bully—A big touch guy.

Leopard Manny Moon—Howard’s Leopard Lodge Brother and principal of the High School.

Myron “Count” Malachi—1/2 of the Malachi brothers, Fonzie’s nemesis, greaser type, overly dramatic, in his 20s.

Elvis—Elvis Presley circa late 1950s.

Leopard Mac Gates—Howard’s Leopard Lodge Brother.

Jumpy Malachi—Other ½ of the Malachi brothers, filled with nervous energy, greaser type, in his 20s.

James Dean—the 1950’s movie icon.

Arnold Delvecchio—A man in his 50’s, owner of Arnold’s Malt Shop, member of the Leopard Lodge.

Lori Beth Allen—Sweet, lovely, “girl next door” type, Richie’s girlfriend, high school student.

Pinkette Lola--Hot looking dancer/singer.

Pinkette Tina—Hot looking dancer/singer.

Les auditions auront lieu pendant la première semaine de mars 2012.

On vous demandera de jouer un rôle d’une scène tirée du scénario dont on vous remettra le texte lors de votre audition.

Les personnages de la pièce comprennent :

1. ANGELO : Dans la trentaine. Dramaturge qui gagne sa vie à rédiger des scénarios pour la télévision. Comportement et « look » plutôt « straight ». Très bel homme. Italo-canadien de première génération. Gai, mais est resté dans le placard toute sa vie. De nature curieuse. Il semble être en quête perpétuelle. Rôle principal.

2. NINO : Dans la trentaine. Comptable. Amant d’Angelo, partage un appartement avec lui. Gai et dans le placard lui aussi. Comportement et « look » plutôt « straight ». Bel homme, ancienne star sportive de son école. Italo-canadien de première génération. Se contente des choses comme elles sont. Rôle principal.

3. ANGELA : Le côté féminin d’Angelo. Belle, intelligente, ultra-féminine, Angela est une diva douée d’une grande sagesse. Rôle mineur.

4. MARIA : Dans la soixantaine. Italienne, mère d’Angelo, arrivée à Montréal dans les années cinquante, mais a toujours gardé sa mentalité de petite ville du sud de l’Italie des années cinquante. Elle a des idées très précises sur la façon de vivre sa vie. Rôle secondaire.

5. GINO : Dans la soixantaine. Italien, père d’Angelo. Il a connu Maria en Italie et ils ont immigré au Canada ensemble. Ils se sont mariés ici. Il a travaillé en manufacture jusqu’à sa retraite. Il est toujours prêt à s’engueuler avec sa femme. Rôle secondaire.

6. ANNA : Dans la trentaine, sœur aînée d’Angelo. Enseignante, célibataire, habite toujours chez ses parents. Elle a un petit faible pour les pilules. Elle semble toujours être au milieu d’un drame. Rôle secondaire.

7. LINA : Dans la soixantaine. Italienne, mère de Nino. Veuve, elle est arrivée d’Italie dans les années cinquante. Aime être en contrôle, elle est prête à tout pour que la vie se déroule comme elle le devrait. Rôle secondaire.

8. PINA : Dans la trentaine. Italo-canadienne de première génération. Beauté du genre Sophia Loren. Célibataire, habite toujours chez ses parents. Elle gère une grande compagnie de construction dont elle est propriétaire. Sûre d’elle dans son travail, mais manque de confiance dans sa vie privée. Rôle mineur.

NOTE : Les rôles de Maria, Gino et Lina exigent que les comédiens puissent parler avec un accent franco-italien.
